Mets Acronym
All these years I thought that Mets was
short for Metropolitans. I met a Yankees fan at Fenway Park
last night that set me straight. Mets actually stands for “My
Entire Team Sucks”. Now it all makes
sense!!!

Is there anything worse that losing two in a row to the New York Mets? For Philadelphia Phillies fans the past two days have been torture. Two games where the Phillies have come up just a little short. Games you could argue they could or should have won. Now the Mets are on a four game winning streak and once again believe they can beat the Phillies.
The Phillies have Adam Eaton as their hope to salvage one game of this series. Yes it is early, yes it is April, but why are the Phillies always on the short end of the stick in April? This year has been better than years past, but a sweep tonight will again have the Phillies in a hole early in the season.
We need a win tonight, and Adam Eaton is out hope!

Citizens Bank Park will be sold out again today as the Philadelphia
Phillies (8-9) host the rival New York Mets (9-6). Jamie Moyer (1-0
5.52) will toe the rubber for the Phillies while Oliver Perez (1-0
3.38) counters for the Mets. For the second night in a row both teams
will start Southpaws.
The Phillies lost the opener to the Mets last night 6-4 as Johan
Santana threw 7 solid innings and David Wright missed the cycle by a
homerun. The Phillies defense and another wrong call concerning Jose
Reyes also helped sink the Phils.
Other quick hits:
- Jamie Moyer is 7-3 with a 2.87 ERA against the Mets in his career.
- Every pitcher in the Phillies bullpen has an ERA under 3.00 against
the Mets in their career except Rudy Seanez 3.80 and Clay Condrey 3.12. - Pat Burrell leads all active players in career homeruns against New York with 41.
- Jayson Werth is a career .339 hitter versus the Mets.

The Philadelphia Phillies (8-8) and rival New York Mets )8-6) will
square off in a much anticipated battle tonight at Citizens Bank Park
at 7:05pm. Cole Hamels (2-1 0.82) will oppose offseason acquisition
Johan Santana (1-2 3.05). Santana was booed off the mound in his last
start at Shea Stadium after giving up his third homerun if the game to
the Brewers.
The Phillies are coming off of a big win yesterday against the Houston
Astros where they had 4 homeruns and won 10-2. They have won two
consecutive series and look to make it three against the hated New York
Mets.

Rollins To Sit Again

Jimmy Rollins will miss another game as his ankle is still causing him pain. Rollins, who hoped to be back for the beginning of the series with the Astros, is not recovering like the team had hoped.
The question now is whether or not to put Rollins on the disabled list. If he is he will not be eligible to play again until April 25th. Without him playing the team is not only short an MVP player but also short on the bench. Hopefully J-Roll will be ready for the series against the New York Mets!
