It took 28 years and 8 days but the Philadelphia Phillies are once again the World Champions of baseball! It took three days to win the final game but the 4-3 victory put Philadelphia into a euphoric frenzy it has not known for over a generation.

Brad Lidge was absolute perfection as Pat Gillick's prized off season acquisition proved to be a genius move as he was 48 for 48 in save opportunities saving his best for last. Lidge was simply perfect all season and made the difference for this Phillies team. Tug McGraw is smiling from heaven.

2008 World Series MVP Cole Hamels earned the honor for the second straight series. Steve Carlton was always tops in my book but Hamels may be better. I only wish he could have gotten that fifth win.

This is a moment I have waited most of my life to experience again. It was well worth the wait! This time I am old enough to have champagne and my bottle was just popped! Let's celebrate Philadelphia! Our Phillies are number 1. See you at the parade. It is going to be a party like Philadelphia has never seen!
